Major Organ Involvement
There are numerous examples (specialist advice should be sought) but:
- CNS and cardiac toxicity dominate organochlorine ingestion
- Hepatotoxicity is the major manifestation of amatoxin containing mushroom ingestions and paracetamol
- Haemolysis suggests arsine gas poisoning
- Respiratory and renal damage usually predominate in paraquat toxicity
- Cardiovascular collapse and gastrointestinal toxicity are the major manifestations of colchicine and iron poisoning
