Intramuscular Diazepam

IM injections of diazepam are poorly and erratically absorbed (bioavailability is much worse than with oral ingestion).

The injections may also lead to severe pain and sterile abscesses.

If an IM route is required, then midazolam, clonazepam or lorazepam should be the benzodiazepine used.
