Cardiac Bypass

As the duration of toxic effects from most drugs is short and they generally cause no permanent damage, it is feasible to put patients with refractory arrhythmias on to cardiac bypass or other form of ventricular assistance. This has been done for tricyclic antidepressants and aconite poisoning, although could be considered for most cardiac toxins if facilities are available.
